Over the last 12 months, our marketing and engineering teams have been building integrations, features, and content to help marketers (and the companies they work for) track their most important metrics.

Along the way, we learned a lot about the metrics people track and common ways for visualizing them.

While every company’s stack looks different, and while the needs and applications for this data vary greatly, there is a common set of metrics that most businesses are tracking.

Let me give you a few examples:

    • For Google Analytics its Users, Bounce Rate, Average Session Duration, Sessions by Channel, % New Sessions, and 25+ others.
    • For Facebook Ads, it’s Cost-per-click (CPC), Amount Spent by Campaign, Link Clicks, Impressions by Campaign, Post Engagement, and 25+ others.

Now consider that the average number of tools a marketer uses to manage campaigns and data is 12, and you begin to understand just how hard it is for teams to monitor and report these key metric–the metrics that give them the insights needed to make better decisions.

It’s hard. It’s even harder to make those insights accessible to other people in the organization. When people can’t discover insights from their data, it’s hard to prioritize the right projects, make necessary adjustments on the fly, or even plan the week’s activities out.

    Introducing the Datablock Library

Our mission is to make it easy for teams to make sense of all of their performance data.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the Datablock Library, a repository of the most popular metrics (for over 60 data sources) that companies are tracking. Based on feedback from our customers, we knew we needed to make these core metrics more accessible so that individuals and teams could quickly pull the metrics they need.

These Datablocks come pre-built. They have the metric pre-configured and the visualization most commonly used to track it, ready to plug and play. Simply drag and drop them into your dashboard and the data populates automatically.

Watch the video below to see it in action.

In total, Databox features 600+ pre-built Datablocks, spanning all of our integrations, in the Datablock Library. The more popular the data source, the larger the library. (For example, tools like Google Analytics, Facebook Ads, AdWords, Shopify, HubSpot, and others have 32 pre-built Datablocks ready to go.)

Here’s an up-close view of just a couple of pre-built Datablocks from Google Analytics:

You can see more examples on the most popular Google Analytics Datablocks here.

The Datablock Library–available in the dashboard editor–runs entirely on the insights we’ve learned over the last 12 months. And while it’s possible for our users to dig deeper to track the unique metrics they need, this creates an easy way to learn valuable insights on performance as quickly as possible.

    Here’s how it all works:

Quickly pull the most popular metrics

When you open the Datablock Library inside the dashboard editor, you’ll find a menu of pre-built Datablocks comprised of the most popular metrics for the data source that you’ve selected.

Simply drag-and-drop any of these Datablocks into your dashboard and the data will populate automatically.

    Great for:

    • Visualizing performance without slides or spreadsheets
    • Building and sharing reports quickly
    • Monitoring updates on KPIs in real time
    • Quickly identifying trends so you can make any necessary adjustments

Next, you can add more Datablocks from that source, or you can grab Datablocks from a different data source altogether, so you can track metrics from multiple sources all in one place.

    Customizing Your Datablocks

You have full control over the look and feel of your dashboards.

You can resize or rearrange any of these Datablocks however you’d like.

    Great for:

    • Creating your perfect view of performance
    • Customizing the look and feel of your dashboards without the need for designers or developers
    • Highlighting your most important KPIs

Pull metrics from multiple sources in one dashboard

It’s never been easier to track metrics from multiple sources in one place.

When you select a new data source, you’ll have a menu of pre-built Datablocks specific to that source available to add to your dashboard.

This is great for pulling together comprehensive views on key areas of your funnel. Acquisition, for example, is driven by content marketing, social media, paid advertising, search engine optimization, etc.

How many tools do you currently log into to monitor and report on those areas?

Now, by connecting multiple data sources, you can track all of your key funnel initiatives in one dashboard.
