Easily compare Databox and Tableau to choose the best analytics platform for your business. Explore the top 6 features.
Databox is easy. You can choose from 140+ dashboard templates or start from scratch using simple drag-and-drop actions. Just drag any visualization or pre-set metric onto your dashboard canvas and build a custom view in minutes! Once done, easily share your insights using a link. The best part is, anyone with a link can access the dashboard – you don’t need to have a Databox account.
In Tableau, dashboards are created using worksheets. The dashboards are customizable, but the process can be very time-consuming. This is because users need to build visualizations and metrics before adding them to the dashboard. You can share your dashboards using links, but recipients need to be added as users in the Tableau account.
As soon as you connect your first Data Source, you’ll be able to browse a library of 4,000+ pre-defined metrics. If you can’t find the metric you need, you can create additional custom and calculated metrics using the Metric Builder and Metric Calculations tools. With the Metric Builder, you can add advanced filters, discover new metrics, and segment data using a simple dropdown menu.
Tableau does not provide ready-made metrics. After connecting a Data Source to a worksheet, users have to build metrics by dragging data fields (values, dates, dimensions) to specific sheet sections (columns, rows, filters, tooltip). Users can also create calculated metrics using Custom Fields. This involves writing an equation using functions, fields, and operators. The interface is quite technical, and building metrics can be time-consuming.
Connect your data to Databox using any of our 70+ native integrations. Databox connects with the most popular platforms for every department, including marketing, finance, sales, and more. Go beyond what’s natively available by connecting SQL Databases, spreadsheets, and Custom API integrations. Or push data into Databox using the Rest API.
Tableau connects with popular data clouds, warehouses, and SQL databases. Users can also sync custom data using Excel, PDF files, and text files. But, it lacks native integrations for widely used tools like Facebook, Instagram HubSpot, Google My Business, and more.
Creating monthly or weekly reports is easy. You can choose to either use a Report template or create one from scratch using the different slide types (text, image, Data Stories, side-by-side, and dashboard). Using Report Automation, you can then schedule your Reports to automatically export your data daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly – without sacrificing quality!
Tableau does not offer a distinct feature for Reports; there is no differentiation in the functionalities compared to a dashboard. Users can create document-style Reports by updating the size and layout of their worksheets. Through snapshots, they can also subscribe to receive scheduled screenshots of their reports at specified intervals.
Use Goals, Scorecards, and custom Alerts to keep your metrics and goals under control. Using Goals and Alerts, you’ll be able to set targets, track your progress over time, and receive tailored notifications to stay informed on your performance. With Scorecards, you can receive performance updates of your top metrics via email, push notification, or Slack.
In Tableau users can build a visualization to help track the progress toward their goals. While users can create Alerts for specific metrics, Tableau does not fully support creating Alerts for specific Goals.
Predict future performance and create more realistic goals and strategies with Forecasts. But that’s not all! We’re constantly innovating and releasing more advanced features like Generative AI, Anomaly Detection, Advanced Benchmarks, and Metric Correlations.
Tableau provides an analytics tool that allows users to forecast and explore future “scenarios”.
