Our Product & Engineering department consists of 9 agile teams (3-8 members each) that work closely with each other to drive our product development, performance, quality assurance, and scalability. Although each team is autonomous in prioritising and assessing their projects, we collaborate daily and align our initiatives with quarterly planning to address yearly objectives.

Life at Databox

More than ⅔ of our members work remotely from 17 countries across the globe, however, our Product & Engineering teams feel their best switching between working remotely and using our offices or co-working locations. If you ask our Playmakers why they love coming to the office, the consensus is clear: it’s the people and the environment we work in.

Considering our hybrid culture, we’ve been using tools for collaboration (such as Asana, Slack, Zoom) since day 1 and consciously work on inclusive communication that allows all teams to stay engaged and on the same page.

What exactly does Databox do?

Databox is a cloud-based business analytics platform that allows companies to view various metrics and KPIs in one place and generate useful reports. Our mission is to empower everyone in any organization to improve their productivity and performance, by making it as easy as possible to benchmark, analyze and report it.

What are your top considerations when hiring candidates?

We’re looking for team players that can identify with our values, have a hunger for challenges and progress, are willing to work within and across teams, are proactive and comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone. Besides a candidate’s skills, what matters to us is how well they fit in at Databox since we believe that team effort is the only way to success.

How should I prepare for my interview?

Try to find out as much as possible about our culture and the way we work to see if we would be a good match. If you have an updated Linkedin or Github profile, we’d love to see it. Other than that, we hope to get to know you, your passions, hobbies, skills, and other assets you might find helpful for the role you applied for. Just be yourself, as cliche as it sounds.

What does the hiring process look like?

Our hiring process has multiple stages that include a submitted application, an initial call with our Head of People, an assignment to showcase your skills, an interview with a senior member of our team, and finally, a job offer. To learn more about our hiring process, click here.

What does onboarding look like?

We take onboarding seriously since we want to make sure all new hires are confident, well-informed, and comfortable when starting in their new role. We believe in our product and use it daily, so we want new team members to know all the bells and whistles before getting under the hood of it. Each new team member goes through an individual set of onboarding tasks, adjusted to their role, and aimed to make them familiar with our product, our way of work, and our internal processes. The onboarding usually lasts between 2 weeks and 2 months (depending on the role) and includes one-on-one support from the manager. To learn more about our onboarding process, click here.

We make sure all our teammates get opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally. Besides a clearly defined career path, we also make sure everyone has regular check-ins with their manager, builds on their skillset, and has a chance to give feedback about their experience as a Databox team member.
