Today we’re excited to roll out our new integration with Ahrefs, and SEO and competitive research tool used to help marketers analyze the overall volume and quality of backlinks pointing to their website, research competitors, and improve their overall placement in search engines.

It’s one of the more frequent integration requests we’ve received over the last 12 months, so we’re excited to finally roll this out for you.

I’ve actually had a chance to play around with the tool quite a bit over the last few weeks, performing a website audit for ourselves in order to learn more, and while there may be some overlap with other SEO tools on the market, Ahrefs has carved out its own unique offering focused heavily on the overall quality and health of your backlink profile.

Already a user and want to jump right in?

Download the new, plug-and-play Ahrefs dashboard and visualize important search ranking factors in seconds.

New to Ahrefs (or Databox) and want to learn a bit more?

Here are a few of the important metrics I started tracking while using the product over the last few weeks.

    Domain Rating

Domain Rating shows how strong a backlink profile of a target website is on a scale from 0 to 100 (with the latter being the strongest).

Backlinks from sites with higher domain rating carry more “weight” and therefore have a bigger impact in terms of boosting your PageRank.

By dropping this into our seo dashboard, I can more easily keep this top-of-mind and keep an eye out for any trends from our backlink profile (seen below) that may or may not impact our rating.

    Backlinks Profile

A critical component of an effective SEO strategy is the quality and depth of a website’s backlink profile.

Using the table visualization, we are able to pull in all of the important search ranking factors in a glanceable fashion. Things like:

      • Backlinks: Total number of backlinks pointing to a target website.
      • Dofollow: Number of follow links (or links not specified with nofollow tags.) Boosts PageRank.
      • Nofollow: Number of links with nofollow HTML tag. Does not boost PageRank.
      • Text: number of backlinks that use anchor text.
      • Redirect: Number of redirects found that forward to the target website.
      • Image: Number of backlinks that use an image as an anchor.
      • .gov: Number of backlinks of all types (including images and NoFollow) found on web pages on governmental domains that link to the target website.
      • .edu: Number of backlinks of all types (including images and NoFollow) found on web pages on educational domains that link to the target website.

It’s never been easier to track the overall health and growth of your backlink profile.

    Referring Domains

Referring domains are perhaps the holy grail of search engine optimization.

Any time another website links to content on your website, you essentially get a “point”, which Google’s PageRank uses to calculate the overall quality and relevance of a particular page or website.

There are several ways to track your referring domains in Databox using Ahrefs.

Below you’ll see I opted for the pie chart visualization in order to quickly track the anchor phrases (the specific text of any link referring traffic to our website) of referring domains in order to get a better feel for the context a person has when landing on our website.

*Note: These labels are populated with dummy phrases.
