The behavior where some metrics from the Ahrefs Data Source return ‘0’ instead of the actual values can be caused by the wrong ‘Mode’ defined for the Ahrefs connection in Databox.
When connecting the Ahrefs Data Source, the fields ‘Domain’ and ‘Mode’ need to be filled out. If the Ahrefs Data Source is already connected, you can access these fields by clicking on ‘Edit connection’ for the given Ahrefs Data Source in Data Manager.
If you run into the behavior where ‘0’ is returned instead of the actual values for Ahrefs metrics, try updating the Domain field so that it contains the full domain (so that it includes ‘www.’) and adjust the content of the ‘Mode’ field.
In the ‘Mode’ field, enter the mode of operation. Mode options are ‘exact’, ‘domain’, ‘subdomains, or ‘prefix’. If you select ‘exact’, the exact URL is used. If you enter ‘domain’, the domain without subdomains will be used. If you enter ‘subdomains’, the domain with all of its subdomains will be used. Lastly, if you enter a ‘prefix’, the domain with all of its subdomains and a specified path will be used.
You can read more information on ‘Mode’ here.
The behavior where some dimensions (URLs) are missing from the dimension dropdown for Ahrefs metrics in Databox can be caused by the wrong Mode defined for the Ahrefs connection in Databox. The behavior can be addressed by adjusting the Mode defined for the Ahrefs connection.
When connecting the Ahrefs Data Source, one of the steps is to fill out the field ‘Mode’. If the Ahrefs Data Source is already connected, you can access these fields by clicking on ‘Edit connection’ for the given Ahrefs Data Source in Data Manager.
Once you access the window with the ‘Mode’ field, enter the mode of operation in the given field.
You can read more information on Mode here.
In Databox there are two separate Ahrefs integrations available – ‘Ahrefs’ and ‘Ahrefs Enterprise’.
The ‘Ahrefs’ integration syncs data via the legacy V2 version of Ahrefs API.
The ‘Ahrefs Enterprise’ integration syncs data via the V3 version of Ahrefs API.
Only Ahrefs Enterprise users have access to the V3 API. Older Ahrefs users on specific plans who did not upgrade to Ahrefs Enterprise still have access to the V2 API. New Ahrefs users can not use the V2 API anymore, because it has been deprecated for new users.
When verifying data from Databox for the ‘Ahrefs’ integration in the Ahrefs User Interface (UI), please make sure that you are looking at values in the ‘Legacy’ version of the User Interface. Ahrefs switched to a new API version (V3) and a new default view in the User Interface (Overview 2.0) in Spring 2024.
However, Databox is still syncing values from the old (V2) API version for ‘Ahrefs’ Data Sources. Therefore, to compare the values and establish a data discrepancy, always refer to the legacy version of Ahrefs (it should be available at the bottom left side of the menu in Site Explorer).
