What is "Followers"?
The Followers metric on Twitter refers to the number of users who have chosen to subscribe to a particular account's Tweets, and thus, receive updates when new content is added. It is a critical measure of an account's social media presence and influence, indicating the account's reach and popularity. The more followers an account has, the more likely it is that its messages will be seen and engaged with by a broad range of individuals, making the Followers metric crucial for businesses and individuals who are interested in marketing themselves or their brand on Twitter.
Example: A beauty influencer could use the Followers metric to track their growth and engagement on Twitter by analyzing how many new followers they gain and how many of their followers are actively engaging with their content.

  • The values for dimensional ‘Followers’ metrics from Instagram Business do not match the value of ‘Total Followers’ metric in Databox

The metric ‘Total Followers’ provides values reflecting the overall Instagram following. The values for Dimensional metrics like ‘Followers by Country’, ‘Followers by Age’, and ‘Followers by Gender’ may not be an exact match to the ‘Total Followers’ count, as Instagram allows its users to hide their personal data. The metric values for the Dimensional metrics would therefore only show the followers whose personal data is accessible.

For example – some Instagram users either do not have a Gender selected or may have a privacy setting set to hide their Gender or other personal data. If a user does not want to share their gender or age with Instagram, they will not be counted in the given metrics (‘Followers by Age’, ‘Followers by Gender’) at all. If a user shares their gender or age with Instagram, but privacy settings conceal this data (e.g. Female, Male) or the user has a ‘Custom’ option selected, they will be counted under the ‘Not specified’ dimension.
