The metric ‘Total Followers’ provides values reflecting the overall Instagram following. The values for Dimensional metrics like ‘Followers by Country’, ‘Followers by Age’, and ‘Followers by Gender’ may not be an exact match to the ‘Total Followers’ count, as Instagram allows its users to hide their personal data. The metric values for the Dimensional metrics would therefore only show the followers whose personal data is accessible.
For example – some Instagram users either do not have a Gender selected or may have a privacy setting set to hide their Gender or other personal data. If a user does not want to share their gender or age with Instagram, they will not be counted in the given metrics (‘Followers by Age’, ‘Followers by Gender’) at all. If a user shares their gender or age with Instagram, but privacy settings conceal this data (e.g. Female, Male) or the user has the ‘Custom’ option selected, they will be counted under the ‘Not specified’ dimension.
