Why Use the Metrics Screen?

An Easier Way To Organize and Track Your Metrics…

When you’re working with so many different platforms, it’s hard to stay on top of your performance. Sometimes, you need a more effortless way to tune out the noise so you can focus on what really matters. Without a way to easily navigate and organize your metrics, you’ll be…

  • Stuck in manual gear – you’ll spend all of your time trying to find data rather than being able to reference it for important decisions.
  • Disjointed and misaligned – if your team is working with siloed or incomplete data, you’ll create confusion around what KPIs need to be tracked to understand performance.

Using the Metric Screen in Databox, you’ll be able to …

  • Stay On Track – by creating a custom view of all of your key metrics, you’ll be able to understand your performance at a glance.
  • Align your team – working together on one screen will allow your team to collaborate and agree on the metrics that matter to your organization.
  • Invest Wisely  – you’ll be able to determine what you should dig deeper into in order to make the right decisions to achieve your goals.

How To Add A Metric To The “My Metrics” Screen

Dashboards are a great way to tell comprehensive, well throughout stories with your data. But, not every metric you monitor is part of that story, and not every person in your organization has the same objectives when reviewing data.

As an example, output metrics (like “Blog Published”) are important, but they don’t always belong on a dashboard. They may represent deliverables your manager or client knows are happening, but they’re more interested in seeing the results of your activities.

Or, your CEO might be more interested in seeing the metric “Sessions”, while the Content Marketing Team wants to dive deeper and see things like “Sessions from Organic Traffic”.

The Metrics Screen is a place where you can set up your own personal view of the KPIs that matter most to you.

The quickest way to add a metric to the “My Metrics” screen is by:

  • Navigating to Metrics and clicking + New Metrics
  • Browsing By Data Source – From the drop-down menu, you can choose to filter metrics by integration.
  • Search – Type the metric name or a keyword in the search bar.
  • From the Metric Library, search for the data you need by:
  • Hover over any metric and click Add To Metrics
    • Once added, you’ll be able to view the metric at the top of your My Metrics page.

How To Invite Team Members To Collaborate On Metrics

When you’re implementing new strategies, team alignment should be your top priority. Why? Without involving the people who are responsible to move the business forward, you’re doomed to fail.

So, when it comes to aligning your team on metrics, here are a few questions you should address:

  • Do these metrics help us achieve our goal?
  • Can these metrics influence the performance of other metrics?
  • What platform does this metric live in?
  • Are there any gaps? Is there a tech stack that might help fill in the blank?

Using the Metrics Screen, you’ll have one central place to collaborate with your team. Easily agree on metrics, organize KPIs, set goals, and more.

To invite a team member to use the Metrics Screen, you’ll need to add them as a new user in your Databox account.

The Metrics Screen is split into two sections ‘My Metrics’ and ‘Metrics From Other Teammates’. That way, you can keep an eye on what other team members are tracking and stay up-to-date on key metrics across the organization.

How To Access The Metric Detail Page To Perform A Quick Health Check Of Your Data

Picture this, you’re scrolling through the My Metrics screen and you notice your “Sessions” have decreased. Your first reaction might be to panic. But before you do, you’ll want to dig deeper into the data to understand what’s really going on.

Using the Metrics Detail page, you’ll get a complete picture of your metric’s performance, without any added work. In an easy-to-digest view, you can explore your metric performance over time, check the overall trend, and view comparisons for multiple date ranges.

From the My Metrics section of the app, you’ll want to click ‘View Details’.

By performing health checks of your most important metrics, you’ll have a better understanding of how your actions impact performance. You can then use these insights to adjust future campaigns, jump on downward trends and explain any patterns in the data.

Tips & Tricks

3 Quick Tips & Tricks

  1. Rearranging Metric Blocks To Personalize Your View ⬇️

From your Metric Screen, you can rearrange the order of your blocks to help you easily monitor what’s important. Let’s say you’re on a deadline and you need 10 new chats by the end of the week. You can move the Metric Block ‘Conversations Started’ to the first spot on the page. That way, it’s always the first thing you see.

  2. Using Tags To Categorize Metrics ⬇️

To improve the collaboration within your team, you can use tags to assign ownership of metrics to person or team, a project, or for inclusion in a dashboard you intend to create. Once a tag has been added to a metric, team members can filter metrics by owner name.

  3. Accessing ‘My Metrics’ From The Dashboard Designer ⬇️

You can easily add your most important metrics to a dashboard from within the Databoard Designer. In the left menu bar, select My Metrics to view every metric you saved and its corresponding tag. When you’re ready, you can drag and drop the metric straight onto the dashboard.
