Meet Jack Edge
Managing Director at EDGEY

Jack Edge is the Managing Director of EDGEY, a digital partner for the best hospitality brands in the world, specializing in paid social and Google PPC campaigns for the hospitality industry. His team works closely with clients during their busiest seasons, particularly November and December, to deliver impactful digital marketing campaigns.

The Challenge: 12 Hours Lost Every Month to Manual Reporting

As they grew, EDGEY’s creative team was spending a significant amount of time – approximately 12 hours each month – manually creating weekly and monthly client reports. For a creative agency focused on delivering campaigns, this was time that could have been better spent optimizing client campaigns and developing creative solutions.

“It was difficult for me because my team was spending 12 hours doing reporting where I know that they didn’t enjoy it either, a lot of time in Excel,” Jack explains. “For me, I know that our time is best spent delivering campaigns and creative for clients instead. So it was about best use of our time, really.”

Finding a Solution

After trying nearly 10 different platforms through free trials – all of which proved too clunky, hard to use, or complicated to set up – Jack received a recommendation from another agency’s managing director to try Databox. The recommendation came at the perfect time, as Jack was actively seeking a way to automate their reporting process without sacrificing the quality of insights they delivered to clients.

Implementing Databox

EDGEY’s implementation approach was methodical and focused on replicating their existing reporting process within Databox. “We had one screen with the old report and one screen with Databox on, and we just worked side by side in trying to replicate those current reports,” Jack shares. The team quickly discovered they could create even more advanced reports than before.

The onboarding process was smooth, with Jack first learning the platform himself and then teaching his team. The proactive support from Databox made the transition easier: “The support in the first instance was fantastic. I was actually quite amazed that Databox were quite proactive in emailing us saying we’d love to help you.”

Results: Eliminating Weekly Reporting Time

The transformation in EDGEY’s reporting process has been remarkable. “We don’t spend any time at all on a weekly basis now doing any reporting,” Jack explains. “At 9 AM every single Monday, our clients automatically receive their report for the previous week, and at the end of each month, 90 percent of our monthly report is already pulled for us.”

This automation has led to several key improvements:

  • Eliminated 12 hours of monthly manual reporting time
  • Enabled real-time access to data for clients
  • Improved team morale by removing tedious Excel work
  • Allowed more time for campaign optimization
  • Enhanced report quality and consistency

Jack’s Advice for Others

For those considering Databox, Jack’s advice is straightforward: “If I could go back 12 months, I would have taken Databox sooner. My advice would be create a demo account, have a play, connect some metrics up, start creating some dashboards. There’s loads you can do in there.”

He emphasizes the platform’s versatility, noting that while they primarily use it for client reports, they’ve expanded to using it internally for monitoring all client activity as well.
