What it does
YouTube analytics tells you what happened. This skill tells you why — and what to do about it. Most YouTube channel reviews focus on views and subscriber count. But views don’t predict channel growth. Watch time does. And subscriber count doesn’t explain why a channel is growing or stalling. Average view duration and average view percentage do — together.
This skill reads live data from your YouTube channel via Databox and writes a structured report focused on the signals that matter: are people watching once they click, which videos are holding attention versus losing it, and where traffic is actually coming from. The video performance breakdown surfaces the top 5 videos by watch time and by views, then pairs each with its average view percentage — so you can see which videos are driving genuine watch time versus inflating view counts without retention. Videos with high views but low average view percentage are flagged as a retention problem worth investigating.
Videos with strong retention but low views are flagged as a distribution problem worth promoting. The report also covers subscriber dynamics, traffic source breakdown (YouTube Search, Suggested Videos, External, Direct), playback location, device split, and one plain-English recommendation tied to the weakest signal in the data. One technical note: YouTube’s Reporting API processes data with a 48-hour lag. Metrics for the most recent 2–3 days may not be fully synced — the skill states this in every output.
